I am the one that got away
I am from the diner smell
I am from the feeling of a crisp $10 bill
And a ghostly guardian
I am from the simpler hello and goodbye.
Until he passed.
I am kept in a room of new perspective
Framed in black next to the sideways car.
I am milky skin
And cold hands.
I am from a reuniting moment
And the sweet blush of cheeks.
I am from a cheeseburger and fries, every week from a guy named Norm
An old moon dance tradition.
I am from silence
As still as the fire amber brick that is my house.
I am from no nonsense.
I am from wildfire hair
I am from the soft kiss of summer sun.
