Safety 

Make sure the blade is secure in the handle

Always cut away from your body - keep your bracing hand behind your cutting hand

Gently wiggle your blade as you exert even pressure to keep the blade from slipping

Turn your block so that it facilitates cutting away from yourself 

Stay aware of whats happening in the classroom - move intentionally + carefully
